Part - time (20 or more hours per week)

This position is responsible for:

Delivery of excellent customer service while receiving and assisting with donated goods, keeping accurate counts of donations, cleaning, pricing, and sorting goods; while maintaining a clean and safe work area. Additionally, may assist store customers in selecting and purchasing store items; operates and maintains cash register; responds to customers questions; ensures the security of store items and the cash register.

• Receives, inspects and sorts donated items such as clothes, shoes, household items, bric-a-brack, etc. according to the category and condition.
• Selects items suitable for store display and distributes same to appropriate area for further sorting and/or pricing; discards items in accordance with established procedures.
• Maintains warehouse area in a neat and orderly manner; cleans floors, tables and work areas.
• Assists customers purchasing items from The Salvation Army by ringing-up sales utilizing a cash register; collects monies, counts change and prepares receipts; prepares and packages purchased items; prepares and balances the cash drawer and runs routine register print-outs; prepares and delivers bank deposits; ensures the security and accountability of all cash register funds and sales records in accordance with established operating procedures.

Working Conditions:

• Work requires the ability to lift and cany and/or push/pull heavy (over 501bs.) materials, supplies and equipment frequently. Heavy mobility duties are usually performed by combinations of standing, walking, climbing ladders or steps, bending, reaching or transporting merchandise on frequent change basis relieved by fewer periods of sitting or operating a vehicle.
• Work is performed in a stock room, warehouse or store environment where there are discomforts associated with changes in weather. There are occasional discomforts associated with noise, crowds, dust, lint, chemical odors and the like.
