General Purpose

The Area Supervisor is a member of Store Leadership responsible for a specific area of the Store, and for general operations and supervision when functioning as Manager on Duty. Key duties include opening and closing the Store, supervising Associates, maintaining merchandise presentation, and ensuring a clean work area.

Essential Functions Maintaining Safe & Secure Environments
  • Understand that safety is the priority and practice safe behaviors.
  • Maintain awareness on the sales floor to create a safe shopping environment.
  • Secure building entry/exit, monitor EAS device functions, and protect Cash Office and register areas.
  • Remove clutter and ensure clear egress to emergency exits.
  • Ensure customer safety through accident prevention and emergency procedures.
  • Test fire alarm systems as scheduled; respond to after‑hours alarms when requested.
Customer Service
  • Treat all customers, associates, and leaders with respect.
  • Demonstrate courtesy, friendliness, and professionalism at all times.
Personal and Store Brand
  • Represent and support the Company brand at all times.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and ensure all associates adhere to the Company Dress Code.
  • Keep all store areas clean, well‑maintained, and merchandised to standard.
  • Perform daily trash removal.
General Merchandising
  • Ensure recovery, sizing, and markdowns meet Company standards.
  • Process merchandise with urgency; manage receipt of all non‑merchandise inbound deliveries.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of all stockrooms.
  • Manage floor moves, promotional signing, and rewraps as needed.
Loss Prevention
  • Maintain a strong customer service presence on the sales floor.
  • Safeguard confidential information, cash, and merchandise.
  • Execute PVM system maintenance and Code 50 package inspections.
Front End Supervision and Operations
  • Train and coach associates on cash register procedures and shortage control policies.
  • Control retail associates’ break schedule and ensure equipment works properly.
  • Maintain proper supplies and recovery for the front end area.
Fitting Rooms
  • Maintain cleanliness and audit fitting room garment tags.
  • Ensure go‑back compliance throughout the day.
Administrative Duties
  • Conduct cash pulls and bank deposits per Company policy.
  • Handle front end control and refund approval as needed.
  • Perform payroll administration and associate scheduling compliance.
  • Other duties as assigned by Store Manager.

Qualifications
  • Excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Fluency in English.
  • Prior customer service and supervisory experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with point‑of‑sale equipment and applications.
  • Basic mathematical calculations for retail environments.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends.
Physical Requirements / ADA

Ability to use all Store equipment, including PDTs, registers, and PC. Spend up to 100 % of working time standing, walking, and moving around the Store. Regularly bend at the waist, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop. Occasionally push, pull, and lift more than 25 lbs. Use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders, and other assigned supplies. For Stockroom shifts, push, pull, and lift more than 20 lbs.
