Loudoun County's Department of Parks, Recreation, and Community Services is actively looking for qualified candidates for a full-time Volunteer Coordinator position. Under the overall guidance of the Volunteer Program Manager, the Volunteer Coordinator delivers extensive volunteer coordination services for the department. This role is responsible for leading the recruitment, selection, placement, training, recognition, and evaluation of volunteers, significantly contributing to the enhancement of community engagement.

The Volunteer Coordinator mainly oversees volunteers and may also supervise one or more regular staff members.

We are currently hiring for the following location(s):

  • PRCS, 742 Miller Drive SE, Leesburg, VA
Responsibilities
  • Oversees the recruitment, orientation, supervision, and acknowledgment of volunteers. Administers the volunteer orientation and training program. Maintains the volunteer database and scheduling calendar. Acts as a liaison between staff and volunteers. Provides reports on volunteer activities and trends.
  • Create significant volunteer opportunities for both individuals and groups, while evaluating the feasibility and extent of proposed service projects.
  • Offer administrative assistance for volunteer initiatives, encompassing file organization and documentation management. Ensure precise records of volunteer hours and program involvement are maintained. Compile materials and correspondence pertinent to volunteer services.
  • Facilitate both short-term and long-term strategic planning for the department.
  • Assess the needs for outreach and produce materials aimed at fostering volunteerism. Facilitate the division and program outreach aims through various events, presentations, and community educational efforts.
  • Provides customer service.
  • Evaluate programs and events; develop and implement surveys to assess needs and expectations.
  • Undertake extra responsibilities as allocated to facilitate departmental operations.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree; one (1) year of related work experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must undergo a criminal background, credit, and DMV check. A valid driver’s license is required and will be subject to an annual driving record review.
