Job Summary

Are you ready to take the next big step in your automotive industry career? Our high-volume automotive body shop is seeking a full-time Automotive Office/Store Manager to oversee and motivate our talented team of professionals.

The ideal candidate for this position should have a track record of successful management positions with at least three years of experience, and a strong desire to succeed with integrity.

You will oversee daily operations and assist sales and service managers in setting big but realistic goals. Responsibilities
  • Oversee daily operations, remedy customer complaints promptly, and ensure customer satisfaction metrics are met
  • Recruit, hire, and train service managers, parts managers, and estimators to meet profit levels
  • Attend manager meetings and establish good working relationships with owners, managers, and staff to establish processes
  • Implement growth strategies that align with automotive group objectives by carefully assessing profit and loss
  • Forecast goals and objectives for the department and strive to meet them
  • Hire, train, motivate and monitor the performance of all body shop employees
  • Prepare and administer an annual operating budget for the body shop
  • Direct and schedule the work of all body shop employees
  • Establish and maintain good working relationships with insurance adjusters
  • Establish and maintain good working relationships with customers to encourage repeat and referral business
  • Monitor technicians' daily productivity reports and corresponding payroll records
  • Give fair estimates on costs and time required for body work
  • Follow up on parts department orders to ensure parts availability
  • Monitor progress and completion of vehicles in the shop, ensuring that proper repair and safety procedures are followed
  • Maintain high-quality service repairs and minimize comebacks; conduct periodic spot checks of completed jobs for thoroughness and quality
  • Check quality of completed work
  • Handle customer complaints immediately and according to guidelines
  • Monitor paper flow to ensure that all documents are accounted for, filled out completely and legibly, and filed or distributed to the appropriate parties
  • Prepare final billing for completed repair orders
  • Control accounts receivable for body repair work
  • Understand, keep abreast of, and comply with federal, state and local regulations that affect body shop operations, such as hazardous waste disposal, OSHA Right-to-Know, etc.; provide necessary training
  • Ensure that proper safety equipment is available and being used properly
  • Facilitate and/or conduct technical training and send employees to appropriate training schools as needed
  • Monitor the maintenance of paint booths, frame straightening equipment, and other large fixed assets to ensure long-term usage and value
  • Keep abreast of new equipment and tools available and recommend purchases
  • Ensure that the work areas and customer waiting area are kept clean
  • Maintain professional appearance
  • Other tasks as assigned
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required; a high school diploma or GED equivalent needed
  • Three or more years of experience in a sales manager or general manager position for a dealership or auto group is necessary
  • Knowledge of the automotive industry and trends
  • Possess a state-issued driver’s license and acceptable driving record to operate dealership-owned vehicles
  • Strong communication skills; a track record of leadership; and the ability to interpret profit and loss statements
