Position Title: Accounts Receivable Supervisor
Location: Leesburg, VA (Hybrid)
Assignment Type: Temp-to-Permanent
Compensation: $38.46/hour – $43.27/hour
Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Job Description:Our client is seeking an experienced Accounts Receivable Supervisor to join their growing accounting team. This role will oversee day-to-day accounts receivable operations while serving as a working supervisor responsible for cash applications, collections, credit management, and reporting. The position will supervise a small team and serve as a technical resource to ensure accurate financial operations and strong credit risk management.
The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in accounts receivable processes, experience managing collections and customer negotiations, and the ability to analyze financial data to improve processes and team performance. This role requires someone who is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities:- Oversee daily accounts receivable operations, including collections, cash applications, and credit management
- Supervise and support a small team of AR professionals while providing technical guidance and mentorship
- Implement and maintain credit policies to manage risk and ensure timely customer payments
- Review and approve credit applications while establishing appropriate repayment terms
- Monitor accounts receivable activity to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for process improvements
- Manage the cash application process to ensure accurate posting of customer payments
- Work with internal departments such as sales and customer service to align credit and collection efforts with overall customer relationship strategies
- Prepare month-end reports and support financial close activities
- Assist with cash forecasting and reporting for finance leadership
- Respond to internal and external audit requests and maintain proper documentation
- Analyze AR data and recommend strategies to improve collections performance and operational efficiency
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, or a related field
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in Accounts Receivable, Collections, and Cash Applications
- 1–2 years of supervisory or team lead experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of collections processes, credit risk management, and cash application practices
- Experience negotiating with customers and resolving payment issues
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, VLOOKUP, formulas, and data analysis
- Experience working with ERP systems (JDE preferred, but other ERP systems acceptable)
- Knowledge of regulations and compliance considerations related to collections and cash applications
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, evolving environment while managing multiple priorities
