Are you someone who’s passionate about supporting others and creating a positive, healing environment? We’re looking for an enthusiastic Mental Health Technician to join our amazing team on the Mental Health Unit!
As a Mental Health Technician, you’ll be working hand-in-hand with our Licensed Nursing Staff, providing patient care and helping create a therapeutic space where people can thrive. Whether you re assisting with daily activities or providing a listening ear, you’ll be making a real impact every single day.
What You’ll Be Doing- Helping patients with daily activities and providing direct care under the supervision of our nursing team
- Keeping the environment supportive, safe, and positive for everyone
- Taking on a variety of duties (from clerical tasks to helping in a clinical setting) – no two days are the same!
- Using your skills and compassion to help patients feel at ease and supported
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Must obtain BCLS certification within 120 days of hire (and keep it current for continued employment)
- Clearance through the Family Care Registry
- Completion of training as directed through orientation and/or by Leadership, Management, or Educators in the established timeline
- Department Orientation With Classroom And Clinical Training Equivalent To Unlicensed Assistive Personnel (UAP) Regulations—or Meet Specific Background Criteria As Listed Below
Unlicensed Assistive Personnel training requirements can be waived if the employee demonstrates competency in required content areas.
Must Meet One Of The Following- Enrolled in a professional or practical nursing program and completed a fundamentals of nursing course
- Was a nursing licensure candidate who failed to pass the state licensure exam in the past 3 years
- Certified as a nursing assistant per state regulation
- Certified or trained in UAP curriculum
- Has documented experience as a nurse assistant, EMT, or surgical technician in the past 3 years
- Completed UAP training in Missouri within the last 3 years
- Completed a professional or practical nursing program outside the U.S. and awaiting licensure in this country
- UAPs from staffing agencies must comply with training requirements
- Experience in patient care, including assistance with activities of daily living (ambulation, feeding, etc.)
- Previous mental health experience
- BCLS certification
