Bookkeeper/ Accounting Clerk
LHH is assisting with a search for an Accounting Specialist for a contract opportunity with a client in Lee’s Summit, MO with potential to go permanent for the right person. This position will work on-site and will provide essential administrative and accounting support to the general office and accounting team and plays a key part in supporting the day-to-day financial operations of a growing organization.
The ideal candidate has hands‑on accounting experience, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in an office environment. Read below for additional details!
- Perform accurate and timely data entry
- Review, process, and reconcile vendor invoices
- Investigate and resolve invoice and payment discrepancies
- Communicate with vendors as needed regarding billing issues
- Handle Accounts Receivable
, including: - Remote deposit and posting of checks
- Processing and posting credit card payments to customer accounts
- Working with customers on outstanding balances
- Reconcile employee credit card charges
- Review, reconcile, and post expense reports
- Assist with month‑end close
, including account reconciliations and journal entries - Maintain, organize, and file accounting records and documentation
- Ensure confidentiality of sensitive financial and company information
- Answer phones promptly and professionally
- Maintain department process and procedure documentation
- Provide general administrative support and assist with special projects as assigned
- Minimum 3+ years of accounting experience with a solid understanding of accounting principles
- College degree preferred but not required
- Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word
- Strong typing and 10-key data entry skills
- Excellent attention to detail and critical thinking skills
- Ability to manage time effectively and multi‑task
- Strong organizational skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work effectively with all levels of management - Comfortable working independently in the office when needed
- Experience with multi‑line phone systems
- Team‑oriented mindset with a willingness to assist where needed
