We are currently recruiting a Family Time Worker to support children, young people and their families during planned and court-directed family time sessions.
This is a rewarding, hands-on role for someone who is child-focused, emotionally intelligent and confident working in sensitive and sometimes challenging situations.
About the role As a Family Time Worker, you will coordinate and facilitate therapeutic family time between children and their parents or wider family members.
Your role will be to ensure sessions are safe, supportive and focused on promoting positive relationships and the child’s welfare.
You will work closely with colleagues and partner agencies, contributing to accurate recording and reporting, and providing practical parenting guidance during sessions where appropriate.
This role will require flexibility, including evening and weekend work, to meet the needs of children and families.
Key responsibilities
Coordinate and facilitate family time sessions as directed, including court-ordered contact
Provide practical and emotional support to children, young people and their families
Offer parenting guidance and model positive interactions during family time
Transport children and young people to family time sessions when required
Accurately complete records, reports and documentation
Work effectively in emotionally charged or conflict situations
Uphold safeguarding, equality, and health & safety standards at all times
What we’re looking for
NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in working with children and families
Experience of direct work with children, families or carers in a statutory or voluntary setting
Understanding of child development and the impact of stress and trauma
Knowledge of key legislation, policy and guidance within children’s social care
Strong communication and relationship-building skills
Confidence using IT systems and writing clear, accurate records
Ability to work flexibly, including evenings and weekends
Essential: unrestricted access to a car and willingness to travel
