We are seeking an experienced Transport Planner (Container Operations) with a strong background in containerised road transport and Port/Rail Terminal coordination. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring efficient, compliant, and cost‑effective container movements while delivering exceptional customer service and operational performance.

This is an excellent opportunity for a logistics professional with proven experience in container transport planning, VBS systems, and transport management software.

Monday to Friday |10‑hour shifts between 06:00 - 18:00 |Occasional weekend support (paid overtime)

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and coordinate container transport operations across Yorkshire.
  • Manage daily transport schedules for containerised freight.
  • Ensure compliance with transport regulations and operational procedures.
  • Book and manage Port and Rail Terminal VBS slots.
  • Liaise with drivers, depots, customers, ports, and rail terminals.
  • Optimise vehicle utilisation and route planning.
  • Monitor KPI performance and service levels.
  • Provide proactive customer service and manage client expectations.
Essential Skills & Experience
  • Proven experience as a Transport Planner within the container / haulage sector.
  • Strong working knowledge of container logistics, port operations, and rail terminals.
  • Experience using TOPPS (Container Transport System).
  • Experience with VBS (Vehicle Booking Systems).
  • Strong understanding of UK transport compliance and container movement regulations.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal English).
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Strong IT skills with ability to adapt to new transport management systems (TMS).
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast‑paced logistics environment.
