Openedge Developer / Progress Developer – Yorkshire, large Dev team, poss to X train

Responsibilities:

  • Openedge Development

    • Key Responsibilities:

  • Analysis, Design, Specification, Development and Testing of 4GL/ABL GUI code to defined exacting standards (V9/OE10) and specified deadlines
  • Produce Design and Functional specifications as needed for technical documentation
  • Develop, customise, enhance, unit test the source code and conduct integration testing
  • Closely work with the Development, QA, Release Management and Infrastructure teams
  • Produce high quality solutions within time and budget
  • Undertake and manage various development projects and ensure that these are implemented to agreed timescales
  • Suggest areas for improvement within internal processes along with possible solutions
  • Ensure that development standards and conventions are adhered to throughout all projects

    • Required Skills:

  • Experience of successfully delivering development projects in a commercial environment
  • Hands on experience with Progress 4GL/ABL GUI programming language (Progress 9.1x, Open Edge 10.2x)
  • Use of Progress Open Edge Architect, Open Edge Studio, App builder, GUI for .NET, Web Services
  • Experience of Client Server, ADM1 & ADM2 Smart Objects (Webspeed & HTML experience would be advantageous)
  • Experience with source control management systems (knowledge of Team Foundation Server would be an advantage)
  • Good working knowledge of Windows platform
  • Exposure of E-R diagrams, data modelling and RDBMS concepts
  • Ability to manage multi-threaded projects, or co-ordinate concurrent projects
  • Good business / systems / process analysis skills
  • The ability to work under pressure and deliver to changing business demands
