Senior Perl Engineer – Payments Specialist
Remote - UK
Salary up to £88,102
We're recruiting on behalf of a leading global Prop Tech provider with 25+ years of experience, powering estate and lettings agencies worldwide. Their platform is used by over 78,000 agents across 15,000+ branches in Europe, Middle East, Australia, New Zealand, and beyond — managing properties, client engagement, rent collection, and outstanding service delivery.
They are looking for an experienced Senior Perl Engineer specifically
with deep payments expertise to join the team driving the continued development and rapid growth of their specialised rental payment platform.
- Proven experience building/maintaining automated payment systems with various providers
- Strong knowledge of payment networks/systems: credit card, Faster Payments, BACS/Direct Debit, US ACH, Canadian EFT, UK Open Banking, PSD2, Australian BPAY
- Hands‑on experience with bank file formats: ISO 20022, SWIFT MT940/942, NACHA ACH
- 8+ years Perl development (back‑end & front‑end)
- Excellent modern OO Perl (Moose, Mouse, Moo)
- Strong Perl ORM (DBIx::
Class) - Experienced in testing (Test::
Harness, Test::
More, Test::
Most) and CI - Very strong Unix/Linux and shell scripting
- Solid MySQL & PostgreSQL
- Advanced Git
