Overview
Water Quality Technician at Yorkshire Water. Permanent, 37 hours per week, 4 long days 07:00 - 17:00 Tuesday to Friday. Location across the Yorkshire region with a company vehicle for travel between sites. You will need your own vehicle/transport to travel to Eccup Water Treatment Works, Leeds, then use a company vehicle for the role. The role involves daily travel across the Yorkshire region.
We have an exciting opportunity to join the Water Quality team and contribute to delivering reliable water quality and public health compliance across our service area.
Responsibilities- Service tank integrity inspections of potable water assets such as underground storage reservoirs and water towers, recording results on inspection reports and the company Reservoir database.
- Clean potable water storage tanks by operating plant and equipment (pumps, hoses, pressure washers, and grounds maintenance equipment) in accordance with procedures and training.
- Undertake maintenance and repair of plant and equipment, including basic maintenance of upstands and hatches.
- Inspect and report faults on water mains air valves upstream of service reservoirs.
- Perform basic maintenance of secondary chlorination units.
- Report and rectify issues affecting water quality or public health.
- Prepare site packs for each job using IT systems and equipment.
- Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions; previous experience in an operational environment where Health and Safety is key. Experience with plant equipment, pumps, and pressure washers is advantageous; full training will be provided.
- Willingness to perform extensive manual handling and work in confined spaces and at height; training will be provided.
- Ability to pass medical criteria including BMI, vision, blood pressure, hearing, and Spirometry tests for safety in hazardous environments; discuss any needs with us before applying if required.
- Proficiency with IT systems and ability to learn new tools quickly.
- Strong communication skills to develop and maintain relationships with stakeholders.
- Full valid UK driving licence with no more than 6 points; willingness to travel across the Yorkshire region daily.
- Competitive salary (£25,524 - £29,192, dependent on experience).
