A great opportunity has arisen for a lead CMM operator / inspector to join a leading manufacturing company supplying to various industries including Oil & Gas and Aerospace.
Job Description:
Lead, mentor, and support a team of inspectors, ensuring consistent inspection practices and high-quality output.
Program, set up, and operate CMM equipment to perform complex dimensional inspections.
Develop, review, and refine CMM programs and metrology procedures.
Conduct first-off, in-process, and final inspections using CMMs and conventional measurement tools.
Perform audits on inspection processes, tooling, and documentation to maintain compliance.
Identify non-conformities, perform root cause analysis, and support corrective/preventive actions.
Work closely with engineering and production to resolve technical and quality-related issues.
Maintain accurate and detailed inspection reports, quality records, and measurement data.
Train team members on CMM operation, metrology principles, and quality standards.
Ensure compliance with internal policies, customer requirements, and relevant industry standards.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives within metrology and inspection functions.
Beneficial Skills /
Qualifications:
Proven experience as a CMM Operator/Inspector, ideally with leadership responsibilities.
Advanced CMM programming skills (PC-DMIS, CALYPSO, or similar).
Strong competency with metrology equipment including micrometers, verniers, height gauges, surface measurement tools, and vision systems.
Excellent understanding of dimensional inspection principles and GD&T.
High attention to detail and strong analytical/problem-solving skills.
Ability to lead, motivate, and develop a team.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work cross-functionally.
Proficiency with inspection software, measurement systems, and quality documentation tools.
Understanding of ISO 9001 & AS9100 quality system requirements.
Relevant qualifications or certifications in metrology, quality, or engineering (desirable)
