Overview

We are looking for a Quality Inspector to join our Quality team on a 12 month contract to be responsible for the inspection and control of incoming components and materials. In this role, you will ensure that all delivered parts meet engineering requirements and quality standards, maintaining full traceability and supporting efficient supplier quality management.

This is a hands‑on role suited to someone with strong attention to detail and experience working with precision machined components.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform goods‑in inspection of machined and purchased parts in line with company procedures
  • Inspect components using handheld measuring equipment and CNC Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM)
  • Program and operate the CMM to verify conformance with engineering drawings and design standards
  • Ensure all inspection records and documentation are complete, accurate, and fully traceable
  • Record non‑conformances, raise supplier rejection notices, and manage rejected parts through to return
  • Convert internal quality rejections into supplier returns in line with established processes
  • Support fault‑finding activities where issues are related to supplied parts
  • Assist with internal and external quality investigations
  • Store inspected parts correctly and maintain associated documentation within the quality system
Your Profile
  • Experience in incoming inspection, quality control, or manufacturing quality
  • Confident reading and interpreting engineering drawings and specifications
  • Practical experience with precision measurement tools and CMM inspection
  • Familiar with quality documentation and non‑conformance reporting
  • Detail‑oriented, well organised, and able to follow defined processes
  • Comfortable working as part of a quality team and supporting wider business needs
Qualifications
  • Formal Technical

    Education:

    A vocational qualification or certificate in mechanical or industrial technology
  • Or On-the-Job Training:
    Training in using measuring tools, reading basic engineering drawings, and filling out inspection reports
  • Be able to read engineering drawings and understand tolerances and symbols
  • Be able to program and run a CMM (Mitutyo MCOSMOS)
  • Have experience of CMM and first principal inspection
  • Have experience in the use of metrology equipment including calipers, micrometers, thread gauges, and other basic inspection equipment
  • Understanding of traceability and its importance for safety critical products
