Position: Clinical Educator (XR06)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 clinical educator role within the Neurology and Neurosurgical Childrens Service. The focus of this role will bedriving quality and service improvement within childrens surgery through education, training and audit. The applicant should possess excellent organisational skills and be highly motivated with the ability to motivate and inspire others through the creation of an innovative culture of education andthe ability to develop and implement strategy to achieve this.

Applicants mustbe able to demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills and be able to establish effective links with the Multidisciplinary Team (MDT).

The post holder would be responsible for overseeing and facilitating the compliance and maintenance of Leeds Teaching Hospital Trust required competencies and training for registered and non-registered clinical facing staff in partnership with team leads. You will be responsible for delivering training in a classroom setting, online learning platform and atthe bedside. The post holder will be responsible for keeping an audit trail ofstaff compliance, competence and have a real focus of instilling confidence in clinical skills.

The post holder will develop training packages and competencies to align with national and local frameworks to drive patient safety.

Main duties of the job

Additional aspects of the role will include working with the Senior Clinical Educator for Surgical, Speciality and Medicine Services, Lead Nurse for Childrens Education, Matron for Childrens Surgery and Lead Nurse for Quality in responding to clinical audits, incidents and service improvement to ensure patient and staff safety.

The successful applicant must possess a foundation qualification and/or equivalent as well as a recognised teaching/assessment qualification (e.g.PAPP, SLIPs or mentorship etc.). Significant experience of working clinically in the childrens service, understanding of how the service runs and involvement in the delivery education and training within the clinical setting are desirable.

Therole involves working on weekdays and in daytime hours but requiring flexibility to accommodate service need. Additionally, part of the contracted hours will be worked as clinical Band 6 shifts, covering a full service ofhours, to develop and maintain clinical skills and expertise. The candidate will have the opportunity to bring their own ideas to improve education andstaff development within the surgical childrens service.
