VBlock Programme Manager​/Project Manager

Overview & Responsibilities

We are looking for a seasoned Technical Programme Manager who has ideally run programmes offering managed service private cloud offerings, ideally on VBlock. You will be managing work packages on behalf of the end customer and hence you will be managing both the customer relationship and the delivery teams.

Initially you will need to come in and give an assessment to stakeholders of the status of current projects and steps needed to optimise delivery. You will then implement these changes and support the stakeholder across all projects as required.

You will quickly establish yourself as the authority on the programme and give total confidence that the projects under your control are well managed and running to both plan and budget.

This role requires a calm and charismatic person who is happy to work with teams of engineers as well as being confident to present in front of customers and senior stakeholders. You are a mentor and a team player. You are pedantic when it comes to documentation and your programme plans, so everything delivered is accurate and consumable. You will guide members of project teams through any resistance from business units with tact.

Stakeholder and Customer Management is key, you will drive the governance strategy and produce outstanding programme updates and communications.
Initially you will need to be full time in Leeds or Swindon, however once the programmes are under control, this can reduce to 3-4 days per week as required.

Key Accountabilities

• Be the Technical Programme Manager owning key infrastructure programmes
• Create and own the programme plans, and manage risks, issues and dependencies between projects.
• Provide regular updates on progress to senior stakeholders and customers
• Matrix manage a team of project managers, architects and technical staff
• Engage with other delivery teams across the organisation as required
• Run Programme Board meetings and workshops
• Be responsible for the individual projects and getting them live on time and within budget.

Ideal Technical/Professional Skills (ideally would have certifications)

• 5+ years Data centre and Infrastructure Programme management experience.
• A good understanding of the VBlock infrastructure.
• Worked with VMware as your supplier.
• 10+ years IT Project management experience.
• Ideally you have come from a data centre/networking technical background.
• PMP, Prince 2, MBA preferred

• Work closely with stakeholders and technical teams and be comfortable communicating at all levels
• You can present technical concepts in authoritative and clear manner to stakeholders through white boarding, presentations and proposals
• You have a number of years’ experience in technical programme management and understand the implications and impact to the business
• Tenacious problem solver, will own issues through to full resolution
