Overview

Lead a department within Operations Catchment Services that provides national water resources services to water companies, including statutory Water Resource Management Plans, drought planning, abstraction programmes, and national modelling.

Responsibilities
  • Provide expert input to the National Framework for Water Resources.
  • Shape and scrutinise water companies’ statutory Water Resource Management Plans.
  • Manage programmes to deliver sustainable abstraction.
  • Plan and manage drought response and drought management activities.
  • Develop talent and skills in water planning across the team.
  • Lead and improve national modelling for water resources and groundwater.
  • Champion health, safety, wellbeing, inclusion, and the development of people.
  • Ensure resources are used effectively, priorities are met, and performance is efficient and demonstrable.
  • Take a wider leadership role as part of the Operations Catchment Services Leadership Team.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Authentic leadership with a strong people focus.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills with a customer‑focused approach.
  • Strategic thinking and the ability to simplify complex issues.
  • Working knowledge of water resources management and the environmental, political, and economic pressures affecting the sector.
  • Experience in developing teams, influencing stakeholders, and delivering results through others.
