Overview

Network Maintenance Craftsperson – Mechanical role at Northern Gas Networks. Based in West Yorkshire. Salary from £44,112 per annum. 41.25 hours over 7 days, including standby/callout rota and night shift dependent on workload.

Responsibilities
  • Carry out decommissioning, installation, commissioning, validation, modification, and repair activities in line with relevant policies, procedures, and legal requirements. Ensure all work delivers optimal technical performance and equipment reliability, while maintaining high health, safety, and environmental standards
  • Prepare reports and provide information, guidance and advice to stakeholders and management and third-party customers on technical matters
  • Support or lead activities such as plant inspections, network surveys, and the design and costing of network modifications. Prepare detailed technical specifications and cost estimates to support project planning and delivery
  • Maintain accurate records of activities to satisfy Maintenance and Capital Projects, NGN, third party and legislative requirements
  • Work towards all perimetry requirements and procedures including complex non-routine operations and routine operations affecting the NGN network
  • Ensure a high standard of customer and stakeholder service
We are looking for
  • Hands-on experience in fault finding, repair, and commissioning of pressure reduction installations and pre-heating systems, including component replacement and system optimisation
  • Familiarity with hazardous area operations, accurate completion of technical documentation, and the ability to manage spares and materials to support maintenance activities
  • Self-motivated, capable of planning your own activities and be able to use IT in the field for work reporting
  • Strong problem-solver and analytical thinker with excellent communication skills
  • Proactive attitude and a strong team player whilst also having the ability to work on your own initiative and comfortable with lone working out of hours
  • Operational and/or project management experience in a relevant field
  • Knowledge of codes of practice, engineering instructions and safety requirements
Qualifications & Requirements
  • EUSR Gas passport, SCO 1, 2 and 4, 5 Years  experience on gas distribution systems, TEM 2,4 and IOSH
  • Experience of working on pressure reduction equipment above and below 7 bar
  • Relevant mechanical maintenance or pressure control training City & Guilds or NVQ III
