Senior Market Underwriter – Financial Lines
Join Zurich Insurance as a Senior Market Underwriter satiating the Financial Lines division. The role is available on a part‑time, job‑share or full‑time basis, and you may work from our Manchester or Leeds office in the Northern Region.
About the roleWe’re looking for an experienced financial lines underwriter to join our Commercial Insurance business in the North of England. Flexibility is a core part of our culture, so many employees work part‑time, flexible hours, job share, remote or compressed schedules to meet their needs.
What you’ll be doing- Working closely with our high‑performing team of Underwriters and Senior Underwriters to drive performance and improve service delivery.
- Identifying and leading continuous improvement projects and initiatives, taking ownership from start to finish.
- Coaching and mentoring team members, including technical 1‑to‑1 sessions.
- Qualifying accounts to align with the Lincoln’s appetite and creating customer‑focused solutions.
- Accurately selecting, assessing and pricing risk in line with underwriting standards.
- Making clear recommendations for market pricing backed by strong rationale and confident decision‑making.
- Delivering against key underwriting metrics and financial measures as outlined in the plan.
- Collaborating with Line of Business representatives on referrals and other business‑related needs.
- Demonstrating market visibility and underwriting expertise.
- Taking lead on broker negotiations when required.
- Delivering in‑person and virtual presentations and training to broker partners and customers.
- Serving as a key Zurich contact for our customers.
- Financial Lines experience, especially D&O and Management Liability (preferred but not essential).
- Ability to assess risk effectively.
- Superior relationship‑building, active‑listening, needs‑analysis and negotiating skills.
- Strong knowledge of Feminine underwriting philosophy and techniques, demonstrating commerciality and negotiation skills.
- Excellent communication skills.
- ACII CII qualified or actively working toward accreditation.
