Property & Casualty Underwriter – Allianz UK

Join us for a challenging role as a Property & Casualty Underwriter at Allianz UK, based in Leeds (Hybrid, 3 days in office per week).

Role Description

This is an exciting opportunity for us and one which will provide significant strides in our journey towards becoming the UK’s Number 1 Commercial Insurer. Allianz UK will drive profitable growth across this important segment and establish ourselves as the employer of choice.

As a result of this proposition, we’re looking for an experienced Property & Casualty Underwriter to join our fast paced and already successful team.

Salary Information

Pay:
Circa £40,000 per year, based on relevant experience, skills, and location. Salary is only one part of our total reward package.

Responsibilities
  • Handle general customers’ queries via telephone and in writing within agreed service standards.
  • Underwrite existing cases and process mid‑term adjustments, including analysis and compiling data for authority referrals.
  • Handle internal claims and account queries.
  • Negotiate within authority and refer where appropriate to maximise customer retention, persuading, influencing and convincing customers of the benefits of an opposed course of action.
  • Anticipate likely objections and build effective responses.
  • Build strong relationships with brokers, negotiate effectively, and provide excellent customer service at all times.
  • Work as part of a close‑knit team to offer renewal terms before deadlines and thoroughly check and issue renewal documents to clients.
  • Learn about different areas of the business from industry‑leading underwriters.
  • Support the wider teams by being proactive, enthusiastic and challenging yourself to go out of your comfort zone.
  • Provide suggestions to continuously improve the business in an ever‑changing environment.
Qualifications
  • Passion about your development.
  • Taking initiative and being proactive within a team.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and good analytical skills.
  • Good decision‑making skills.
  • Existing CII qualification or a commitment to progressing towards CII qualifications is necessary.
  • A good team player, supportive to others with an enthusiastic and positive attitude.
  • Full working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
