The Role

We are seeking a talented Data Analyst to join our Digital, Data, and Technology team at Barnardo's. In this pivotal role, you will leverage your expertise in Power BI and data analysis to support the organization's mission by providing accurate, insightful, and actionable data insights. The Analytics team serves as a central hub for data‑driven decision‑making across all functional areas of Barnardo's, including fundraising, service delivery, policy advocacy, and operational efficiency.

Your primary responsibilities will include developing and enhancing our Power BI dashboards, conducting comprehensive analyses, and presenting findings to stakeholders at all levels. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute meaningfully to a cause that makes a real difference in children's lives, using data to inform strategies, influence policy, and optimize organizational impact.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of one year of hands‑on experience with Power BI, particularly in writing measures, creating calculated columns, and working with semantic data models. A background of at least one year in analytical roles, coupled with strong mathematical and statistical capabilities, is essential. Higher education in fields such as mathematics, statistics, economics, or data science is highly desirable.

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are crucial for engaging effectively with stakeholders across various levels of seniority and technical understanding. Experience working within an Agile environment is preferred, demonstrating adaptability and collaborative working styles. Candidates with familiarity with Microsoft Fabric, programming languages like Python, R, or SQL will have an added advantage. Passion for Barnardo's mission and a genuine commitment to making a positive impact through data are fundamental qualities we seek.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and enhance the existing Power BI suite to meet the evolving needs of stakeholders, ensuring dashboards and reports are accurate, user‑friendly, and insightful.
  • Conduct detailed data analysis across various domains, providing expert advice and insights to support decision‑making processes.
  • Present complex analytical results in a clear and engaging manner to diverse audiences, incorporating feedback to refine outputs.
  • Identify innovative approaches to data analysis and visualization, continuously improving the team's analytical capabilities and output quality.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to understand their data requirements and deliver tailored solutions that support organizational objectives.
  • Maintain and update data models, ensuring data integrity, consistency, and security.
  • Support the organization’s strategic initiatives by providing data‑driven insights and recommendations.
Benefits

At Barnardo's, we value our employees and offer a comprehensive benefits package designed to support your professional and personal growth. You will have access to a range of learning and development opportunities, including formal training courses tailored to your areas of interest. The role provides the chance to work on diverse projects across multiple functional areas, giving you broad exposure and the opportunity to make a tangible impact.

We foster a supportive, inclusive, and values‑driven culture that encourages collaboration, innovation, and respect. Additionally, we offer flexible working arrangements, generous leave policies, and employee assistance programmes to promote well‑being and work‑life balance.
