The Bank has started gaining a greater foothold in cloud services over the last few years. As we grow, we are evolving our operating model to allow us to run our services more effectively.
This role sits within the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) platform team which is part of Central Services and Governors DGCIO.
We do not expect the successful candidate to be knowledgeable or an expert across all resources, applications, and capabilities offered within Oracle cloud. Core foundational experience is required, but we do want them to enjoy learning and will support them to fill any technical gaps (through available relevant learning content, e.g. Oracle University).
We are looking for an experienced Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) lead platform engineer to be part of the digital enterprise services Oracle platform team. They will be responsible for overseeing and working alongside a fantastic team, managing infrastructure, and reporting into the Technology ERP platform lead. The respective individual must be able to work independently and produce simple, robust, solutions.
The successful candidate will be expected to know the technical aspects of OCI deployments ensuring solutions are secure, efficient, and compliant with industry standards. They will need to be able to design, implement and maintain OCI infrastructure, specifically platform services like identity and access management, observability, and core infrastructure, including virtual machines, storage solutions and networking components. Responsibilities include technical leadership, architectural reviews, platform support and mentoring junior engineers.

Leadership and Team Management Skills (50% of role):
- Technical leadership – guiding architectural decisions, setting engineering standards, and mentoring engineers.
- Coaching and talent development – setting objectives, conducting reviews, upskilling engineers, and fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
- Project and delivery management – prioritizing work, managing resources, planning sprints, and attending project meetings.
- Governance and compliance – ensuring the team follows Bank security controls, and change, operational, and release management policies.
- Incident and problem management – point of escalation, leading root-cause analysis, co-ordinating responses, and improving reliability.
- Communication – cross-functional team support, and translating technical concepts for stakeholders, project teams, and senior management.
Technical Skills (50% of role)
- OCI architecture and design – strong understanding of tenancy structure, compartments, IAM, network layout, and security logging and monitoring.
- Security and identity – IAM policies, SAML federation, Cloud Guard, Vault, and KMS.
- Network expertise – dynamic routing gateways, transit routing, domain name services, IPSec tunnels, remote peering connections, and Fast Connect.
- Observability and monitoring – logging, monitoring, alarms, events, notifications, and external third-party feeds (e.g. Splunk).
- Compute, database, and storage knowledge – compute instances, patching, hardening, functions, autonomous databases, and block/object/file storage.
