Company Overview

Downforce Technologies is a UK-based VC-funded provider of soil health data. We’re on a mission to accelerate the global transition towards sustainable agriculture to strengthen climate resilience and boost farm productivity. We empower farmers, landowners and supply chain companies with actionable soil health data to deliver sustainable land management solutions.

About the Role

We are looking for a motivated Dev Ops Engineer to help us continue to build our existing platform while also taking ownership of new infrastructure and platform initiatives. You will be part of the Engineering team and work closely with scientists, ML practitioners and product managers to ensure our systems are scalable, observable, and secure.

This is a hands-on role with real ownership. You will help shape how we build, deploy, and operate our systems as the company grows.

Key Responsibilities
  • Working closely with our existing Dev Ops Engineer to design, build and maintain AWS-based infrastructure to support our SaaS platform, data pipelines and ML workloads.
  • Own Infrastructure-as-Code (AWS CDK) and promote repeatable, auditable environments.
  • Support and enhance our containerised workloads (Docker, ECS and EKS).
  • Partner with developers to improve application reliability, scalability and performance.
  • Implement and maintain monitoring, logging and alerting for production systems.
  • Contribute to security best practices.
  • Take ownership of new Dev Ops projects as they arise, from design through to delivery.
  • Identify and implement infrastructure cost savings, efficiently and proactively.
Required

Skills & Qualifications
  • 3+ years of experience in a Dev Ops role within a commercial setting.
  • Strong hands-on experience with AWS (ECS, EKS, Lambda, S3) and networking (VPCs, DNS, firewalls).
  • Solid experience with a modern programming language, preferably Python.
  • Experience with CI/CD systems.
  • Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code. AWS CDK experience would be a strong bonus.
  • Comfortable working in a small team and collaborating across disciplines.
  • Exposure to data-intensive workloads, geospatial data pipelines or ML infrastructure would be a strong advantage.
  • Knowledge of observability tools.
  • Experience working in a SaaS environment with uptime and SLA requirements.
  • Pragmatic attitude, focussed on delivering working solutions.
  • Curious mindset and keen to explore and learn new skills and technologies.
What We Offer
  • Competitive salary and benefits.
  • Flexible working arrangements.
  • Opportunity to work on meaningful projects in environmental and agricultural domains.
  • A collaborative, mission-driven team with a strong focus on innovation and impact.
  • Ongoing professional development opportunities.
How to Apply
