Overview
We are looking for a skilled Python Developer to join a multidisciplinary team delivering data-driven and service-oriented platforms within the public health domain. This role suits someone who enjoys working on scalable systems, understands the sensitivity of health data, and is comfortable collaborating with engineers, data specialists, and architects in a cloud-native environment.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain Python-based services supporting public health platforms
Build and maintain microservices using modern Python frameworks
Develop and deploy cloud infrastructure on AWS using Terraform
Contribute to CI/CD pipelines to support reliable, automated deployments
Work closely with architects and senior engineers to align solutions with broader system design
Ensure solutions meet security, compliance, and data governance standards relevant to public health
Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code
Participate in code reviews and technical discussions
Required Skills and Experience
Strong commercial experience with Python
Experience working in or alongside public health, healthcare, or government environments
Solid knowledge of AWS services such as EC2, Lambda, S3, RDS, and IAM
Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code, ideally Terraform
Experience building and supporting CI/CD pipelines (Git Hub Actions, Git Lab CI, Jenkins or similar)
Experience developing microservices and APIs
Good understanding of software architecture principles and system design
Familiarity with secure development practices and handling sensitive data
Desirable Skills
Experience with containerisation tools such as Docker and Kubernetes
Knowledge of event-driven or serverless architectures
Exposure to data engineering or analytics platforms
Experience working in regulated environments such as NHS, public sector, or life sciences
