Cloud Engineer

Join us in the role of Cloud Engineer within BAE Systems Digital Intelligence’s National Security division.

• Build and maintain cloud-based solutions for national security customers using AWS.
• Collaborate with autonomous Dev Ops teams to design, develop, deploy and support applications and services on AWS.
• Advise on technology choices, including microservices, API design and infrastructure as code.
• Participate in full delivery lifecycle, from requirements gathering to post‑deployment support.
• Work closely with end‑users to understand mission‑critical needs and iterate solutions quickly.
• Maintain high security standards, help secure code and infrastructure, and work with security and compliance teams.

• Extensive AWS experience (ec2, ecs, eks, s3, lambda, rds, kms, elb, sns, sqs, iam).
• Strong scripting skills (Shell, Bash, Python) and coding experience in at least one Lambda‑compatible language.
• Proficiency in IaC tools such as Cloud Formation, CDK and Terraform.
• Version control proficiency (Git, Mercurial, Perforce).
• Agile development experience (Scrum, Kanban, SAFe, XP).
• Excellent communication and problem‑solving skills.
• Security clearance required; if not currently cleared, eligibility and willingness to complete clearance is mandatory.

• Associate‑level AWS certification (Solutions Architect, Developer, or Dev Ops).
• Experience with microservices, container orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes, EKS, ECS).
• Knowledge of monitoring, observability, Fin Ops and CI/CD tools (Bamboo, Jenkins, Team City, Bitbucket).
• Automated testing frameworks and Linux administration.
• Networking, routing and firewall fundamentals.
