Human Resources is a highly valued function at the firm and the people experience lies at the heart of how the firm serves its clients and recruits, develops and retains its people. This role will be responsible for all generalist operational HR matters for some of the firm’s legal services and business services’ divisions. It will also assume responsibility for leading and delivering key strategic HR projects.
The HR team consists of 18 people and is instrumental to the firm’s ongoing success in achieving our business goals to attract, develop and grow talent. The HR Business Partners work closely with other specialists in the HR team, such as the Compensation and Benefits team and the Talent Acquisition team to ensure that we deliver an outstanding people experience.
This role will report into the Director of HR.
- Ensuring all HR policies, systems and processes are modern, fit for purpose and highly efficient. Keeping up to date with employment law and revising and drafting new policies as appropriate.
- Strategic Advisory:
Acting as a trusted advisor to Heads of Division, Directors/ Partners and managers, providing guidance on all aspects of workforce planning, succession planning for key roles, and practice-specific people strategies. - Performance Management:
Managing the annual review cycles, moderating performance discussions, and identifying high-potential talent against our key competencies for future progression. - Taking an active part in the firm’s annual salary review and bonus processes, making recommendations and challenging as appropriate.
- Employee Relations:
Providing guidance and advice on employee relation and staff wellbeing issues to support a suitable resolution. Handling complex ER cases, ensuring consistency across the firm and compliance with both employment law and regulatory standards. Escalating and seeking guidance from the Director of HR and the firm’s employment lawyers as appropriate. - Data-Driven Insights:
Analysing people metrics—such as turnover, ER trends and engagement to influence business decisions and improve retention. - Change Management:
Leading organisational transformations, such as restructures, acquisitions (including TUPE), or cultural shifts within practice groups. - Learning and Development: collaborating with the Learning and Development Business Partner to design and deliver people management training and other HR related training as required.
- Projects:
Take on responsibility for any assigned project work aligned to the firm’s people strategy and deliver this on budget and within agreed time frames.
- HR business partnering experience, ideally within a law firm or professional services environment.
- Commercial Acumen:
Understanding the firm's business model, financial drivers and market trends. Able to provide advice which is both pragmatic and commercial. - Ability to build credibility and work collaboratively with stakeholders influencing effectively and challenging appropriately.
- Able to demonstrate a high level of integrity when handling sensitive matters.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to provide effective project management to ensure key initiatives are delivered to time and budget.
- Resilient, flexible and proactive, able to deal with variety of issues as and when they arise.
- A high level of IT literacy including Excel and HR Management systems
