Nurse Specialist – Diabetes

Job Summary

Leeds Teaching Hospitals are looking to recruit a Band 6 Diabetes Specialist Nurse to join the multidisciplinary team. This post is on a 12‑month fixed‑term basis to cover maternity leave.

The service delivers highly specialist diabetes care to patients with Type 1 diabetes, complex Type 2 diabetes and provides in‑patient care.

We cover the diabetes centre at St Jamess Hospital and in‑patients at St James University Hospital, Leeds General Infirmary and Chapel Allerton Hospital.

We are looking for an individual who is enthusiastic and committed to the provision of excellence in diabetes care and who wants to further develop their knowledge and skills in this field.

• Strengthen the specialist nurse team by providing expert advice to patients and education to staff across the outpatient and inpatient service.
• Work across the outpatient and inpatient service, providing expert care in highly specialist clinics, including antenatal, pre‑conception, renal, foot, young adult, diabetes technology and DAFNE.
• Be involved in the development of the Diabetes Service.

The vacancy would suit a band 5 nurse with diabetes experience or an existing band 6 diabetes nurse who would like more involvement with specialist work.

Excellent clinical, organisational, IT and communication skills are required.
