Position: Nursing Associate (XR04)

We have an opportunity for a Band 4 Nursing Associate to join our Gynaecology Acute Treatment Unit at St James University Hospital. On ward J24, we are committed to delivering high standards of patient care and are seeking dynamic, motivated, and resourceful individuals to support the nursing team in providing a high-quality service. Our ward provides dedicated inpatient care for women requiringemergency gynaecology assessment, treatment, and management of acute surgical conditions.

With a diverse caseload and rapid patient turnover, this postoffers an excellent opportunity to develop clinical, organisational, and teamsupport skills within a busy and rewarding specialist setting. As a Band 4 Nursing Associate, you will deliver safe, effective,and compassionate nursing care as part of the ward team. You will work alongside the Senior Sister, Junior Sister, and Registered Nurses, supportingclinical care and helping maintain high standards.

You will take part in direct patient care and contribute to service development where appropriate. Good communication, organisational skills, and the ability to work effectively aspart of a multidisciplinary team are essential. Experience in gynaecology,womens health, or acute surgical care is desirable. Main duties of the job

As a Band 4, you will deliver safe, effective,and compassionate nursing care as part of the ward team. You will also take part indirectpatient care and contribute to service development where appropriate.

Youwill be expected to demonstrate good communication, organisational skills andthe ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team. Experience working within a gynaecology, womens health or acute surgical care setting is desirable. You will be supported to continue your professional development and develop additional clinical and non-clinical skills relevant to the role.

The nursing associate has a breadth of knowledge across the lifespan and across thefields of nursing, providing holistic and person-centred care and support forpeople of all ages and in a variety of settings. The nursing associate works independently under the leadership of registered nurses, working within thesphere of nursing and care and within all aspects of the nursing process.

Nursing associates are equipped with the knowledge, understanding, skills, attitude sand behaviours relevant to employment as a nursing associate and will work tothe NMC code of conduct.

The following criteria identify the core components of the roles, responsibilities and accountabilities of nursing associates. They identify what nursing associates can contribute to the health and wellbeing of patients and service users, and apply across all health and care settings. Integral to all of theseis the ability to communicate effectively, with sensitivity and compassion, andto manage relationships with people, making reasonable adjustments where necessary.
