Overview
Disability and Autism Service. The post holder will ensure cost effective use of resources and work with the Learning Disabilities and Autism Team to develop specialist provision for patients and supporters, providing direct and indirect patient care in line with Trust policies.
Principal Duties & Areas of Responsibility- Act in accordance with the Nursing and Midwifery Code of Conduct and maintain NMC registration.
- Clinical care delivery:
Provide a clinical lead, role model nursing staff, maintain a safe working environment, safeguard children and vulnerable adults, raise concerns through the LTHT Whistleblowing policy, undertake duties on other wards as required. - Patient and client care:
Assess, plan, implement and evaluate care using specialist clinical knowledge; organise workload; receive supervision; refer patients to MDT; make assessment and treatment decisions within policies. - Communication:
Maintain accurate clinical records, support patients and families with sensitive information, liaise with community services to ensure seamless care provision. - Education and training:
Provide training to learners and junior staff, participate in appraisals, undertake mandatory training, educate patients and carers. - Leadership and management:
Investigate and respond to incidents; participate in setting, monitoring and improving standards; promote evidence‑based practice; engage users and carers; promote LTHT strategies; implement policy and practice guidelines; contribute to policy development. - Research and audit:
Contribute to the research agenda, undertake audit programmes, participate in clinical trials as appropriate.
Ability to fulfil NMC requirements, maintain and revalidate registration; experience in disability and autism nursing; leadership, communication and education skills; commitment to evidence‑based practice and quality improvement.
