Clinical Nurse Specialist; XR

An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Leeds Pain and Interventional Neuromodulation service for a Band 7 Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS). We area small team of Clinical Nurse Specialists looking for an innovative,enthusiastic and dedicated CNS to provide highly specialised care to our patients. Experience in neuromodulation is required to be able to provide expert specialised care to our patients and to support the nursing team.

The Leeds Pain and Interventional Neuromodulation Service provides acomprehensive range of specialist pain services for the patients of Yorkshire and beyond. Our highly experienced multidisciplinary team provides a range ofmedical interventions to reduce pain and are dedicated to achieving the verybest outcomes for patients with long term pain. The service runs Mon-Fri 8-4.

Therole will involve advanced clinical assessment of patients within the LTHTChronic Pain and Neuromodulation service, including the intrathecal pumpservice. The role involves assessing and prescribing specialised medications(such as intrathecal drugs) and making consequent dose changes (within your clinical knowledge, competence and Trust Guidelines). The role involvesspecialist clinical decision making and working autonomously.

Youwill work alongside the team leader, providing leadership, training and support for the Band 6 CNS and Clinical Support Worker within the team and totake a lead on audit, service improvement and development.

Youwill work collaboratively with the wider team, referring patients to other services where appropriate.

The Chronic Pain and Interventional Neuromodulation service is a regional service which sits within the Centre for Neurosciences Clinical Services Unit at the Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.

Thepost holder will be practising as an independent specialist clinicalpractitioner providing patient-centred and evidence-based clinical care,within an agreed scope of competence and practice. The jobholder is responsible for the management of a defined caseload. The jobholder carriescontinuing responsibility for the assessment of care needs, the development,implementation and evaluation of programmes of care and the setting of standards of care.

Thepost holder will provide specialist nursing advice and care to support and facilitate high quality, individualised care to patients and their carers in collaboration with the multi/interdisciplinary team for patients with chronicpain, spasticity and movement disorders, who are referred to the Chronic Pain& Neuromodulation and Neuro Rehabilitation Service, for procedures including: spinal cord stimulation, peripheral nerve stimulation andintrathecal drug delivery, as well as key involvement in the chronic painmedication management.

Toprovide specialist nursing care and support in the management of the Neuromodulation Service. This will involve dealing with complex situations and having to take appropriate action in a variety of settings, under theguidance of the team leader for the service.

Tobe flexible in the approach to the clinical area acting as a professionalrole model providing direct and indirect clinical care, teaching, research and audit.
