Overview
The Integrated Children with Additional Needs (ICAN) service is looking to appoint an experienced, highly motivated, and enthusiastic Registered Nurse with community nursing and band 6 experience, to join our existing nursing team. This is an exciting time to join ICAN as you will be involved in the development of the new pre-school neurodiversity (ND) pathway.
You will work within our pre-school nursing intervention offers supporting care delivery for children on our Pre‑School ND, Complex Development, and Growth and Nutrition pathways. This includes triage, supporting families attending for assessments, delivering interventions and parent workshops. The position will be primarily based at St George's Centre with cross‑city cover – you will be required to work Wednesdays. This role requires the successful candidate to have a caring and compassionate approach.
Key Responsibilities- Work with children and their families from triage through to supporting care delivery and nursing interventions.
- Manage your own caseload of children who require nursing support.
- Work within a multi‑disciplinary team, including therapists, paediatricians and other professionals.
- Ensure effective communication, escalation of concerns and adherence to safety limits.
- Deliver nursing assessment, intervention contacts, MDT meetings and parent/carer workshops (in person and online) around ND, sleep and eating.
- Support families through home visits, clinic consultations and close MDT collaboration.
- Support students and junior staff through supervision, appraisals and reviews.
- Band 6 ICAN Community Nurse with community nursing experience.
- Health visiting, school nursing or paediatric nursing experience with additional training in public health.
- Experience of caseload management including safeguarding and multi‑disciplinary working.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills with the ability to motivate and support others through change.
