Medical receptionist role is often the first person our patients see. We are seeking to recruit part time, highly motivated and enthusiastic person. The successful candidate will work alongside the clinical team and management Team. This post will be to provide a high standard of medical receptionist duties to our patients. The successful candidate will possess excellent communication skills, IT skills and clerical.
They will have the ability to prioritise their own workload as well as working as part of a team.
Greet patients and visitors to the practice. Book in, amend and cancel patient appointment inline with practice appointments procedure. Receive and accurately record requests for home visits, assessing urgency in accordance with the Practices protocols. Print off home visit summary sheets. Ensure computerised appointment system is up-to-date. Respond and/or redirect all patient and visitor requests accordingly. Explain practice arrangements and formal requirements to new patients and temporary residents, ensure procedures are completed.
Set-up of new patients onto the computer system. Ensure correspondence, reports, results etc. are filed electronically in correct patient record. Answering incoming telephone calls, ensuring calls are documented and redirected accordingly. Undertake administration tasks as allocated Management and other Clinical Team. Action start and end of day procedures. Ensure up-to-date maintenance of both computerised and manual filing systems (i.e. patient notes).
Check emails and electronic document systems on a daily basis to ensure all tasks are actioned. Regularly check tasks and emails on system to ensure all messages have been actioned. ds. You will also be expected to carry out any reasonable duties, which may be requested from time-to-time.
Laurel Bank Surgery is currently serving approximately 7500 patients, Team consisting of 3 partners, salaried GPs, Nursing Team and Healthcare assistant and Management and Admin Team.
We host Primcary care Network staff in our practice and we are also a teaching practice.
Job responsibilitiesThe Post holder will:
Work as part of the team with Team leader and Deputy Manager to provide the great quality patient care to our patients.
Answering telephone calls in the morning.
Making sure that surgery is opened safely in the morning / Closed in the afternoon.
Taking queries from patients and resolving them with help from clinical team.
Managing day today workload, Making sure incoming post has been allocated to right team and assigned to clinical team.
Processing of referral system from surgery to secondary care system.
Medical reports requested are processed in timely manner
Person Specification Experience- Experience of dealing with vulnerable patients
- Experience of working in GP practice
- Good standard of Education
- Willingness to learn new skills and adapt as no day is same in general Practice.
