Are you an enthusiastic and motivated clinician with a desire to be part of a successful research team? Are you ambitious with an interest in clinical research? Do you want to further your career in one of the UK’s leading research intensive universities?
OverviewThe successful candidate will join the Scleroderma (also known as Systemic sclerosis; SSc) research team, under the leadership of Professor Francesco Del Galdo. With a focus on scleroderma research, you will lead on translational research studies as well as take on the role of sub‑investigator in clinical trials.
Research projects will aim to better understand disease progression in patients with very early scleroderma. You will focus on the role of innate immunity in the early events leading to tissue damage in Scleroderma. By utilising biosamples collected through the actively recruiting observational cohort, you will conduct cellular studies and preclinical disease models. There may also be a focus on imaging‑based projects (both magnetic resonance imaging and ultrasound) to identify the disease segments that are the focus of the research.
You will be medically qualified and have completed core medical training or an equivalent, with clinical experience in rheumatology. You will have current GMC registration with MRCP (or equivalent) and a basic and clinical background in immunology and autoimmune diseases.
There will be a requirement to complete Good Clinical Practice (GCP) training and other local clinical research training as soon as practical after appointment.
