** Finance Manager**
Location: Thanet, Kent
Salary: Up to £55k + 10% yearly bonus
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Finance Manager to join a fast-growing, independent wholesale business supplying pubs, bars and restaurants across the South East of England. With a strong reputation for service and a clear ambition to become a leader and innovator within its sector, the business is now looking for a commercially minded finance professional to play a key role in its continued growth.
This is a hands-on leadership role where you will take responsibility for the day-to-day financial operations of the business, while managing and developing a small finance team. You will work closely with senior leadership to provide accurate financial insight, strengthen financial processes and support strategic decision making as the company continues to expand.
The RoleAs Finance Manager, you will oversee all core financial activity and ensure the accuracy and integrity of reporting across the business. Key responsibilities will include:
- Managing day-to-day financial operations and leading a finance team of four
- Preparing and posting month-end journals including accruals and prepayments
- Ensuring accurate accounting across control accounts, bank reconciliations and the nominal ledger
- Producing timely monthly financial reports including Balance Sheet, P&L, variance and margin analysis
- Managing VAT returns and statutory submissions
- Overseeing credit control activities
- Providing ad-hoc analysis on revenue, expenditure and financial performance
- Developing and improving financial systems, processes and policies during a period of growth
- Leading the preparation for the annual external audit and ensuring deadlines are met
- Monitoring budgets and KPIs, investigating variances and making recommendations to support business performance
- Supporting, mentoring and developing four direct reports, ensuring team KPIs and daily activities are achieved
- A professional accounting qualification (CIMA or ACCA)
- Strong experience producing management accounts and financial reporting
- Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills
- Proven experience managing or mentoring finance team members
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships across departments
- Experience using financial systems and reporting tools
- A proactive approach with the ability to improve processes and support business growt
