Commercial Finance Manager

We are working with a digital marketing business in Leeds who are looking for a Commercial Finance Manager to join the team in a newly created role reporting to the Managing Director.

We are seeking someone with strong financial planning and analysis (FP&A) capability who can help translate financial data into actionable insights that support strategic decision making.

Whilst the accounting and payroll functions are currently outsourced, this role will take ownership of the internal financial analysis, forecasting, reporting and commercial insight required to support business growth and profitability.

You will work closely with the senior leadership team and operational teams to develop financial models, track performance, and improve financial visibility across the business.

This is a hands-on role with significant opportunity to shape financial processes and influence the strategic direction of the company.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A)

• Develop and maintain financial forecasting models, including revenue, cost, cash flow and scenario analysis.
• Provide forward-looking insights and recommendations to support strategic and operational decision making.
• Develop long-term financial planning models to support growth, investment decisions and resource planning.

Commercial Finance & Business Partnering

• Act as a finance business partner to the Managing Director and department leads.
• Provide commercial insight into project profitability, utilisation, pricing and margin performance.
• Support teams in understanding the financial implications of operational decisions.
• Help identify opportunities to improve profitability, efficiency and cost management.
• Support pricing discussions and contract evaluation where required.

Management Reporting & Insights

• Design and maintain financial dashboards and KPIs to provide clear visibility of business performance.
• Produce monthly management packs with commentary on key trends, risks and opportunities.
• Analyse business performance across revenue streams, clients, projects and teams.
• Present financial insights in a clear and accessible way to non-finance stakeholders.
• Work with the outsourced finance provider to ensure accurate and timely financial information.
• Improve internal financial processes, reporting structures and data flows.
• Ensure financial data from operational systems is captured and used effectively for analysis.
• Develop financial reporting capabilities within Xero and other internal systems.

Strategic Support

• Support the Managing Director and leadership team with strategic planning and financial modelling.
• Evaluate investment opportunities, new services and potential growth initiatives.
• Provide financial analysis to support business cases and strategic projects.
• Contribute to the development of the company’s financial strategy and growth plans.

Skills & Experience

• Qualified Accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA or equivalent).
• Strong experience in financial planning and analysis (FP&A).
• Proven ability to build financial models, forecasts and dashboards.
• Excellent analytical skills with the ability to translate data into insights.
• Strong communication skills with experience working with non-finance stakeholders.
• Commercially minded with a proactive and problem-solving approach.
• Experience in project-based accounting or professional services businesses would be beneficial.
• Experience using Xero or similar accounting software would be advantageous.
