Trading Underwriter – Property & Liability

We’re looking for a Trading Underwriter with Property & Liability experience to join our Leeds team. You’ll help us grow profitable business by understanding what matters to our brokers and customers and providing expert underwriting support. Working independently within your authority and collaborating on complex risks, you’ll play a key role in delivering Aviva’s customer‑first strategy and financial goals.

You’ll underwrite profitable business within agreed guidelines, ensuring decisions are fair and sustainable. You’ll manage your own portfolio, build and maintain strong broker relationships, and provide technical support when queries arise. Collaboration is key – you’ll work closely with internal teams to deliver the best outcomes for customers. Your contribution will directly support our branch success and Aviva’s wider strategy.

• Underwriting expertise in Property & Liability – confident in assessing risks and delivering profitable solutions.
• Relationship‑building and communication skills – able to engage brokers and customers, negotiate effectively, and influence outcomes.
• Analytical and decision‑making ability – skilled at interpreting data and risk factors to create tailored terms.
• Time management and prioritisation – capable of handling multiple cases and deadlines efficiently.
• Regulatory knowledge and organisational awareness – understanding FCA rules and experience working in a large, complex environment.

• Starting salary between £40,000 and £50,000 (depending on location, skills, experience and qualifications)
• Bonus opportunity – 8% of annual salary, actual amount depends on your performance and Aviva’s
