Role description

As part of a growing and agile business, our Environmental Planning team is looking for a Senior Environmental Consultant with a broad range of EIA experience. You will manage small to medium sized Environmental Impact Assessments projects and work closely with our clients. Your work may involve protected species, pollution, surface water and materials management, air quality or noise, and will take place in some of the world’s busiest and most beautiful locations.

accountabilities
  • Champion high standards of environmental performance within multidisciplinary engineering projects, influencing project development and delivering optimal environmental outcomes.
  • Coordinate the delivery of environmental work undertaken by multidisciplinary teams across a range of projects.
  • Competently undertake own work to an excellent standard, and review the work of others.
  • Manage selected projects or components of projects, responsible for resource allocation, subcontractors, quality assurance, client feedback and effective communication of any changes.
  • Contribute to tender proposals and bids as part of a project winning team.
  • Provide environmental advice and support to clients, project managers and colleagues.
  • Engage with consultees and stakeholders.
  • Work closely with technical specialists.
  • Develop outstanding reports – summarizing and explaining outcomes to non‑technical audiences will be critical.
  • Manage projects, oversee performance on technical, quality, commercial and health and safety aspects.
Qualifications & Experience
  • A good working knowledge of EIA practices and procedures and a solid understanding of environmental and sustainability principles.
  • Experience across a range of project types, ideally within energy, residential/mixed‑use/regeneration, and other major infrastructure projects including rail and highways.
  • Practical knowledge of the UK planning system and consenting process.
  • Strong report‑writing, verbal and presentation skills, with proven experience in reviewing the work of others to ensure quality.
  • Experience in multidisciplinary co‑ordination of projects, with solid project management and technical skills, and demonstrated professionalism in creating and delivering reports and presentations.
  • Experience in consulting and negotiating with planning authorities, regulators and stakeholders.
  • Desired:
    Experience in delivering SEA and/or Integrated Impact Assessment (IIA) projects, and knowledge and application experience of sustainability, waste or carbon assessments.
  • Desired:
    Associate Member of IEMA.
