Principal Mechanical Design Engineer

Have you been a design engineer for at least ten years and been relied upon as the technical authority for complex projects, dealing with client queries and supporting more junior engineers?

Do you have good working knowledge of complex mechanical systems and a background covering electro-mechanical equipment?

Our client, a market leading manufacturer, seeks to appoint a Principal Mechanical Design Engineer for their Leeds facility. You'll be designing and developing a wide range of mechanical products from initial concept through to finished design. The appointed Principal Mechanical Design Engineer will be well qualified (degree preferred, but HNC / HND and experience in industry fine too) and have at least ten years' experience of 3D CAD design software.

Principal Mechanical Design Engineer - Role & Responsibilities – Senior Mechanical Engineer / Mechanical Engineer / Design Engineer / CAD

- Review new product requests and write project/product specifications and create project plans
- Generate product designs and CAD models, including calculations/analysis both by hand and with the assistance of computer software
- Preparation of manufacturing detail drawings, assembly drawings, schematics and BOMs
- Create test specifications and work with other R&D team members to assemble, test and examine prototype products
- Assist the Sales and Operations departments as required to ensure that customer expectations

Principal Mechanical Design Engineer - Candidate Profile – Senior Mechanical Engineer / Mechanical Engineer / Design Engineer / CAD

- HNC/HND in Mechanical Engineering as a minimum. Mechanical Engineering degree preferred
- Experienced with 2D and 3D CAD - AutoCAD, Inventor, Solid Works, Solid Edge or equivalent
- Aware of modern manufacturing techniques and materials
- Experience designing complex mechanical pars (hydraulics, pneumatics, pressure related systems)
- Good Communication Skills with customers and suppliers
