Manufacturing Engineer - Full Time, Day Shift
An established engineering organisation is seeking an experienced Manufacturing Engineer to join its cross-functional engineering team. This position plays a key role in supporting production, driving process improvements, and delivering innovative engineering solutions from concept through to full-scale manufacture.
Hours:
- Monday-Thursday: 8:00-16:00
- Friday: 8:00-15:00
- (39 hours per week)
Salary £40,000 - £42,000 DOE
Location:
Swindon
- Support the in sourcing of manufactured products.
- Improve processes through new tooling technologies and machining methods.
- Design and develop jigs, fixtures, gauges, and production layouts.
- Manage master data including part numbers, BOMs, and routings.
- Maintain drawing revisions and PDM systems (Solid Works/PDM).
- Identify and source small capital equipment.
- Produce costings for existing and new products.
- Provide hands-on technical support to operators and shop-floor teams.
- Develop documentation, procedures, and routing sheets.
- Conduct work studies and cost-reduction initiatives.
- Specify and justify capital equipment and tooling trials.
- Carry out market research to support engineering decisions.
- Source and assess suppliers and establish supply chains.
- Identify equipment and tooling required for new product manufacture.
- Design and procure work-holding and fixturing.
- Establish product costings and recommended selling prices.
- Manage projects to ensure smooth introduction into production.
- Provide training and support to internal teams on new products.
- Strong experience in a modern CNC workshop within a production engineering support role.
- Knowledge of multi-axis milling and turning, surface and cylindrical grinding, EDM, and CMM.
- Solid understanding of manufacturing principles and engineering processes.
- Ability to read and create technical drawings, with good knowledge of ISO standards and geometric tolerancing.
- HNC in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent) is desirable.
- Confident leading projects and writing technical reports.
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills and excellent presentation abilities.
- Motivated, innovative, and able to work independently or as part of a team.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
