The OpportunityOur award‑winning town planning team are seeking an experienced Senior/Principal Planner to be based in Leeds to join our planning team. The successful candidate will play a key role in managing planning applications for infrastructure projects, to manage an increasing portfolio of complex water schemes through our multi‑year framework with Yorkshire Water. This is an opportunity to work on a wide range of projects, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and engaging with clients and stakeholders.
As a senior member of the team, you will be responsible for delivering a diverse range of projects within the planning team. You will be confident in coordinating multidisciplinary teams, advising clients on complex planning matters, and leading the day‑to‑day delivery of a project (e.g. preparing a planning application, drafting reports / advice and meeting with clients and key stakeholders) in accordance with a client’s objectives and programme.
This will include the ability to identify issues or risks that affect the delivery of a project – identify measures to address the issue/ risk and agree with the team leader how these measures will be implemented.

Isthis role right for you?
We are seeking an individual with depth and breadth of planning consent and policy experience across a wide range of sectors (infrastructure, housing, waste / minerals etc). Ideally with experience in water consenting and/or coastal planning. You will also have the following skills and attributes:
- BSc in related discipline and a Member of the Royal Town Planning Institute (MRTPI).
- Experience on complex TCPA consents, including dealing confidently with a range of stakeholders.
- Ability and ideally experience of working with a range of client bodies, including both private sector (promoters of infrastructure, utility companies and developers) and public sector (central and/or local government).
- Good understanding of the application of Permitted Development Rights, particularly in developing strategies to de‑risk applications through the planning process.
- Ability to explain complex processes and highly technical subject matters in a way that is understandable. For example, presenting information to the public and community groups at consultation events.
