CAD Engineer

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a CAD Engineer to work in the Product Development department. The role involves working closely with a team of mechanical, electrical, controls, manufacturing and quality engineers to design and develop the structural framework and packaging of new standard Chiller products from concept through to production manufacture whilst maintaining the existing portfolio.

• Develop new product design projects in accordance with APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning) and relevant SOM guidelines from concept through to full product launch
• Produce drawings adhering to company, departmental and industry standards
• Create 3D models, layout drawings and design pipe-work
• Produce sheet metal manufacturing drawings of folded parts and assembly drawings
• Work to deadlines and cost requirements
• Design products with manufacturing and assembly in mind, allowing labour targets to be met
• Structure Bills of Material
• Focus on efficient use of sheet metal and minimise the mass of a product without compromising strength
• Sourcing appropriate furnishings and casework fittings

• Experience of MS Word and Excel are essential
• HNC or Degree qualified in an Engineering or Science based subject
• Previous product design experience
• Sheet metal design experience
• Sheet metal manufacturing experience preferred focusing on punching and folding
• Mechanical engineering knowledge would be an advantage including some exposure to the industry if possible
• Ability to use their own initiative
• Ability to communicate effectively at all levels

• Solid Edge ST9 and later
• Radan 2D CAD/CAM
• AutoCAD 2D
• SAP
• High base level of CAD knowledge Siemens Team Centre or similar PLM software (training will be provided)
