THE ROLEAn exciting opportunity has arisen for an Intermediate Mechanical Engineer to join a collaborative and forward-thinking team in Leeds. You'll work on cutting-edge MEP design across iconic UK projects, gaining exposure to HVAC, plumbing, drainage and low carbon systems — with genuine mentorship and a clear pathway to Chartered status.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES- Produce mechanical design calculations, drawings and specifications for HVAC, plumbing and drainage systems across healthcare, education, commercial and industrial projects
- Develop detailed design packages using CAD and BIM (Revit MEP) to RIBA Stage 3 and 4
- Carry out heat loss/gain calculations, load analysis and equipment sizing
- Incorporate low carbon and renewable energy solutions into mechanical building services designs
- Liaise with architects, structural engineers and other design team members to coordinate services
- Attend design team and client meetings, contributing technical input and supporting project delivery
- Assist in the preparation of tender documentation, schedules of equipment and specifications
- Support senior engineers on complex projects and take ownership of smaller schemes independently
- Maintain awareness of current Building Regulations, CIBSE guidance and industry best practice
- Progress towards Chartered Engineer status with structured support and mentorship
- MEng or BEng degree in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering
- 2–5 years' experience in mechanical building services design
- Experience with HVAC, plumbing and/or drainage systems
- Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD or similar)
- Working knowledge of BIM/Revit MEP (or willingness to learn)
- Understanding of current Building Regulations and CIBSE guidance
- Strong technical and communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
- Working towards Chartered Engineer status (CEng)
- Experience across multiple project sectors (healthcare, education, commercial, industrial)
- Knowledge of low carbon and renewable energy systems
- Familiarity with IES, Hevacomp or similar thermal modelling software
