We are seeking an experienced Project Manager with extensive (Caltrans) highways experience to manage transportation infrastructure projects throughout the Bay Area. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 10 years of project management experience on Caltrans-funded or Caltrans-regulated highway projects and the ability to commute to project sites as required.
Key Responsibilities- Manage all phases of highway and transportation projects, from planning and design through construction and closeout
- Serve as the primary point of contact with Caltrans, local agencies, consultants, and contractors
- Ensure compliance with Caltrans standards, specifications, procedures, and reporting requirements
- Oversee project scope, schedule, budget, quality, and risk management
- Prepare and review project schedules, cost estimates, change orders, and progress reports
- Coordinate multidisciplinary teams including design, construction, inspection, and environmental staff
- Monitor contractor performance and ensure adherence to contract requirements
- Identify and resolve project issues, claims, and conflicts in a timely manner
- Support audits, reviews, and Caltrans approvals
- Attend meetings, field visits, and inspections across Bay Area project sites
- Minimum 10 years of project management experience on Caltrans highway or transportation projects
- Demonstrated experience working directly with Caltrans Districts
- Strong knowledge of Caltrans Project Development Procedures Manual (PDPM), Standard Specifications, and Local Assistance Procedures
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Excellent communication, coordination, and leadership skills
- Ability to commute and travel throughout the Bay Area as required
- Proficiency in project management tools and reporting systems
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
- Experience with roadway, freeway, interchange, bridge, or major rehabilitation projects
- Familiarity with CEQA/NEPA coordination and right-of-way processes
