Key Duties- Undertake detailed mechanical building services design and calculations, using Revit, IES and hand calculations to ensure robust, high quality engineering solutions.
- Prepare technical specifications, schedules, design development reports, correspondence and innovative design solutions.
- Produce and review reports, presentations, models and drawings to a high standard of accuracy and clarity.
- Plan, coordinate and manage Revit inputs to support the production of multidisciplinary design work.
- Work collaboratively with coordinators, senior engineers, associates and colleagues across disciplines on a wide range of UK and international projects.
- Represent Buro Happold at meetings with clients, architects, suppliers and other professionals, acting autonomously where appropriate.
- Take responsibility for the design and delivery of mechanical engineering elements across multiple projects, ensuring work is completed to an excellent standard, on time and within budget.
- Embrace new technologies and approaches that enhance performance, sustainability and progress towards net zero carbon targets.
- Contribute to project value, including supporting aspects of financial management alongside project leads.
- Actively engage in team discussions, events and seminars, supporting a collaborative and knowledge sharing culture.
- Maintain CPD and ongoing professional development, while mentoring and supporting junior engineers, interns and trainees.
- Experience in mechanical building services engineering, ideally gained within an engineering consultancy environment.
- Proven track record of delivering mechanical design across all project stages, from concept through to detailed design and completion.
- Experience acting as a Lead Mechanical Engineer on projects, with broad design knowledge across a range of sectors, codes and standards (British, European and ideally international).
- Proficiency in analysis and design software including IES and Revit, with the ability to review and make amendments in AutoCAD and Revit.
- Willingness to learn new digital tools and analysis packages; digital engineering skills are advantageous.
- Strong communication skills, with a confident and proactive approach to problem solving and collaboration.
- Ability to produce high quality technical outputs, including calculations, reports, specifications and schedules.
- Fully conversant with Microsoft Office and familiar with general HVAC calculation software.
- Working towards, or already holding, Chartered status with CIBSE or an equivalent professional body.
- A relevant Bachelor’s degree (BEng/BSc) or Master’s degree (MEng/MSc) in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
