About the Role
As the Technical Competency Lead, you will take ownership of developing and embedding scalable, standardised methodologies that elevate project efficiency, capability and quality. You will play a key role in ensuring our engineering approach is cutting-edge, well-documented, and aligned with industry best practice. You will also act as a trusted technical authority across customer programmes, internal teams, and external partners.
Key Responsibilities- Define, implement, and continuously evolve technical strategies and engineering methodologies.
- Champion a customer-focused culture through strong communication and delivery excellence.
- Promote innovation and consistency through scalable tools, flows, and standardised processes.
- Build strong relationships with EDA and IP vendors, driving adoption of best-in-class solutions.
- Ensure design methodologies are documented, maintained, and supported with suitable training.
- Gather feedback from technical and project leads to identify improvement opportunities.
- Collaborate externally to integrate leading-edge methodologies and IPs into our design approach.
- Contribute to white papers, technical presentations, and sales support efforts.
- Provide expert-level guidance, peer reviews, and issue resolution across customer programmes.
- Lead and mentor methodology engineers and technical consultants.
- A relevant engineering degree.
- Typically 10+ years’ experience in the semiconductor industry.
- Deep expertise in RTL design and front-end methodologies.
- Strong understanding of design checks: lint, CDC, RDC, LEC, SDC, DFT etc.
- Proven ability to solve complex problems and coach engineering teams.
- Experience working with EDA tool vendors and driving tool adoption.
- Able to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to varied audiences.
- Strong documentation and training development skills.
- Knowledge of low-power design, functional safety, requirements management or QMS.
- Experience applying AI / algorithmic approaches to design quality improvement.
- A creative thinker able to bring clarity and structure to technical strategy.
- A trusted communicator who inspires confidence with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Positive, resilient and proactive, with a passion for high-quality engineering.
- Highly organised, self-driven and able to adapt to changing priorities.
