Process and Chemical Engineering Industry Placement 2026 – 32745

Agency: Environment Agency

Location: Various sites across England (West Malling, Tonbridge, etc.).

About the role

Our 12‑month industry placements start September 2026 and give you hands‑on experience in process safety and environmental regulation. You will support UK businesses to reduce environmental impacts across chemicals, refineries, metals and other regulated industries.

  • Evaluating environmental impact
  • Carbon reduction and industrial transition
  • Developing environmental standards
  • Incident management and enforcement
  • Partnership working and public engagement
Experience & Skills Required

We are looking for:

  • Process Engineering degree accredited by IChemE.
  • Team working, confidence with data, engineering knowledge and health & safety awareness.
  • Curiosity, flexibility and determination.
  • Experience from volunteering, sports teams, or social clubs is also valued.
Eligibility Criteria
  • UK, Commonwealth or EEA national with right to work in the UK.
  • Enrolled in an undergraduate or integrated master’s programme, penultimate year or having graduated within the last year (from June 2025 onwards).
