Join Equans UK & Ireland as a Technical Services Manager and lead the technical services team in our Embedded Generation business.

Our Embedded Generation business delivers specialist on‑site generation for industrial processes, combining CHP, biomass and energy from waste to help customers achieve their carbon reduction goals.
General OverviewThe Technical Services Manager (TSM) reports to the Operations Manager and line‑manages the on‑site maintenance team (up to six technicians). The TSM ensures that all plant equipment—steam boilers, water treatment, CHP engines, compressors, chilled water, standby generators and ancillary systems—remains compliant, safe and reliable. Responsibilities include maintaining compliance with statutory requirements, managing legislative maintenance, protecting health and safety, and ensuring the plant is audit‑ready.
KeyActivities
- Maintain plant compliance with safety, environmental and statutory standards (BG01/BG04, HTM’s, SFG
20). - Ensure routine duties and plant performance, availability and reliability are maintained.
- Manage legislative maintenance activities: PSSR, functional safety, Legionella management and statutory routines.
- Apply the chosen safe systems of work correctly.
- Plan, organise and supervise maintenance activities using the CAFM system.
- Day‑to‑day manage on‑site maintenance technicians.
- Lead technicians for maintenance, project work and outage preparation.
- Compile and maintain site maintenance records in an electronic document management system.
- Support the Operations Manager with documentation and procedures.
- Participate in the safety escalation chain and emergency response plans.
- Liaise with internal and external customers.
- Procure spares and consumables within budget.
- Demonstrate the Behaviours and standards outlined in the Equans fundamentals.
- Deliver on H&S, O&M excellence and customer satisfaction.
- Line‑manage 5/6 technicians or a site administrator.
- Minimum HNC or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline.
- Industrial steam boiler operations and maintenance experience (BOAS desirable).
- NEBOSH Cert, IOSH Managing Safely or similar safety qualification (desirable).
- Experience with utility plant operation & maintenance, including generation equipment.
- Leadership skills that balance financial, technical and personnel priorities.
- Good presentation and communication skills.
- Flexible and pro‑active approach, able to influence others.
- Customer‑ and employee‑focused attitude.
- Excellent IT skills and experience operating management systems.
