Job Overview

We are looking for a seasoned engineer to support Knee R&D projects, combining design, prototyping, and risk evaluation in a hybrid setting.

Roles & Responsibilities
  • Design Engineering support for Knee R&D projects.
  • Creating or modifying object structures in Windchill.
  • Working with internal prototyping services to request and build prototypes.
  • Creation and post‑processing of 3D‑print prototypes using office‑based 3D printers.
  • Create and update drawings, Design Verification Workbooks (DVWs) and concepts.
  • Check drawings, models and DVWs for accuracy.
  • Work with external suppliers on DFM requests.
  • Support project design resources to complete tasks on agreed timelines.
  • Consult on risks associated with devices.
  • Release items in Windchill as required and sign off on content approvals.
  • Assist in pre‑population of DVW acceptance criteria based on known interactions.
  • Maintain task board/tracking activities and attend design scrum meetings.
  • Support other Knee projects, including models, drawings and testing fixtures.
  • 3D printing and post‑processing of test fixtures.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Experience level
    : 8–10 years of relevant engineering experience.
  • Industry background
    :
    Extensive Bio‑Medical / Medical Device experience, especially with implants and instrumentation.
  • CAD proficiency
    :
    Advanced use of Unigraphics (NX) for 2D drawings and 3D models.
  • PLM expertise
    :
    Strong knowledge of Windchill (object structures, pull notices, releasing items).
  • Technical knowledge
    :
    Solid understanding of GD&T, tolerance analysis, DVWs, and risk management (MDR).
  • Soft skills
    :
    Flexible, team‑oriented, Scrum/Agile experience, ability to meet multiple project deadlines.
  • Preferred tools
    :
    Experience with BCT automated spreadsheets.
Job Details
  • Location:

    Leeds.
  • Contract:

    Runs until the end of 2026.
  • Hours:

    37 per week, full‑time.
  • Hybrid: 3 days on site (Tue‑Thu), 2 days at home (Mon‑Fri).
  • Open to PAYE and Umbrella only.
