We are seeking a Site Engineer to deliver urgent, on‑call warranty and aftersales support for distribution and power transformers across the UK and Europe. This includes rapid response to faults, oil leaks, operational issues and emergency requests, carrying out investigations, repairs and producing detailed technical reports.
Key Responsibilities
Respond at short notice to warranty and aftersales issues on distribution and power transformers.
Diagnose faults, oil leaks and operational issues; complete rectification works including gasket/seal replacement, flanged joint sealing, bushing checks, accessory replacement and mechanical adjustments.
Complete all service paperwork: job sheets, fault reports, RAMS, photos and documentation.
Participate in an on‑call rota for urgent and emergency call‑outs; travel frequently across the UK and Europe.
Work independently on site following lone‑working procedures.
Support wider Site Services tasks when not on call: SOP creation, audits, shop‑floor support and planned site work.
Follow all reasonable management requests and comply with Continuous Improvement, Quality and H S requirements.
Technical Tasks
Identify and rectify transformer oil leaks.
Replace gaskets, seals, O‑rings, breathers and cooling system components.
Reseal/torque flanged joints; refit radiators, conservators and accessories.
Inspect/refit HV & LV bushings; repair/reinstall marshalling boxes.
Install/replace fans, pumps and control devices (OTI/WTI, PRD, MOG, relays).
Perform mechanical adjustments and torque checks.
Carry out electrical isolation, continuity checks and wiring fault‑finding.
Support IR (Megger) testing, HV Withstand (VLF) testing and functional testing of alarms, trips and relays.
Ensure grounding/bonding of components after repairs.
Capture evidence, measurements and witness statements during investigations.
Produce accurate fault reports, contribute to root‑cause analysis and communicate findings to internal teams and clients.
Drain/refill transformer oil, replace monitoring devices, clean components, collect DGA oil samples and recommission units after servicing.
Skills & Experience
Essential experience working on distribution and power transformers.
Mechanical/electrical engineering background with ability to read technical drawings.
Apprentice‑trained or qualified in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering.
Strong Health & Safety knowledge and risk assessment experience.
ECS accreditation and full UK driving licence required.
Transformer testing experience desirable.
Flexible and able to attend site at short notice, including outside normal hours.
Ideally experienced in continuous improvement with additional training such as Overhead Crane, Slinging/Lifting, FLT or IPAF.Salary & Benefits
