Overview
Join us as a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer of Criminology and Policing at our Leeds campus.
Reporting into our Academic Manager Criminology and Policing, our Lecturers/Senior Lecturers provide high quality teaching and assessment of Criminology, contribute to the delivery of our other undergraduate degrees, and be involved in the design and delivery of postgraduate programmes. As our Lecturer/Senior Lecturer, you will:
- Deliver high quality teaching and support for learning, including communication with other academics for the continuous improvement of teaching and student support
- Identify the need for developing the content, structure, and assessment within modules with colleagues and make proposals on how this should be achieved
- Contribute to effective design and review of inclusive learning. Maintain quality standards and regulations in curricular and assessment design
- Routinely communicate complex and conceptual ideas to those with limited knowledge and understanding as well as to peers using high level skills
- Act as a module tutor, academic coach and sign-post students on pastoral aspects during their learning journey
- Sufficient breadth and depth of professional experience in the relevant discipline to develop teaching programmes and learning support
- Professional, credible, commands respect
- Postgraduate degree (desirable)
- Undergraduate degree or equivalent in a relevant subject
- Fellowship of Advance HE (HEA) or equivalent or willingness to work towards*
- Relevant teaching qualification or willingness to work towards PGCHE*
* Please note that if you do not currently hold this, it is a requirement of the University that you will enrol into the programme (delivered and financially supported by the University), usually within 12 months of passing probation. Successful completion/qualification is essential to this role.
Requirements for Senior Lecturer positions- Postgraduate qualification or equivalent in a relevant subject
- Fellowship of Advance HE (HEA)
- Relevant teaching qualification
Senior Lecturers will have developed significant expertise in the application and practical delivery of a range of teaching techniques, pastoral care, mentoring colleagues, assessment design, marking and team leadership.
